After six straight games, Enyimba FC is yet to pick a win in all competitions as Yemi Olanrewaju’s side played out a 2-2 draw with Egyptian side, Zamalek in their second Group D encounter in Uyo on Sunday.

The host had to come from two goals down to secure a draw at home away from their Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

Seifeddine Jaziri gave the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute from Mahmoud Bentayg’s assist.

Omar Faraj increased the lead for Zamalek in the 40th minute of play.

Kalu Nweke, in the additional minutes of the first half, set up Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, who reduced the deficit for the People’s Elephant.

Chnedu Ufere, in the 57th minute, equalized from Justine Onyemaechi’s assist as both sides searched for the winner, which didn’t come.

For the first time, Enyimba survived defeat against Zamalek after losing their previous two encounters.

The team is yet to win their last six games, with four draws in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), a loss against Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup, and a draw with Zamalek.

They occupy the third position in Group B with a point after two games.

Zamalek tops the log with four points while Al Masry, another Egyptian side, seats in second place with three points ahead of their game against Black Bulls.

Enyimba will face Mozambican side, Black Bulls on December 15, 2024, as they search for their first win.
