2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles to know group opponents on Thursday

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will discover their group-stage rivals on Thursday when FIFA holds the official draw for the U20 World Cup.

The team achieved qualification for the tournament by reaching the semi-finals of the recently concluded Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which took place in Egypt.

In addition to Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, and the eventual champions South Africa also secured their places in the global event.

The draw is set to occur in Santiago, the capital city of Chile.

The Flying Eagles have reached the final of the U20 World Cup on two occasions — in 1989 and 2005 — and will be striving to advance further this time.

Ghana is the only African country to have won the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Africa’s solitary World Cup winners did not qualify for the Tournament.
