Sporting Lagos name four nominees for October Player of the Month

Sporting Lagos have announced the four players competing for their October Player of the Month award, with Victor Clifford, Jacob Aondona, Aliyu Baba and Gafar Olaniyan making the shortlist.
The club confirmed the nominations on its official X handle on Tuesday after a month in which the Lagos-based side found greater stability in the NPFL following an inconsistent September.
Sporting Lagos went unbeaten in their three October fixtures, recording two victories and a draw. The results helped the Tech Boys regain momentum as they sought to establish more consistency in the league.
Clifford’s influence was particularly evident in midfield. He played a central role in controlling games and supplied the assist for Sporting Lagos’ winning goal against Plateau United.
Aondona, meanwhile, provided a significant threat in attack. He scored twice during the month, including the equaliser against Kano Pillars, to underline his importance in front of goal.
Baba was recognised for his contribution from the flank, where he created more chances than any other Sporting Lagos player in October. His attacking output made him one of the team’s most productive players during the month.
Olaniyan completed the shortlist after producing a series of dependable displays in defence. His performances provided the side with defensive stability as Sporting Lagos moved through a positive run of results.
Supporters will decide the winner through a poll on the club’s official X account and via the club’s website. The successful player will be announced before Sporting Lagos’ Matchday 12 fixture this weekend.
The award follows the September prize won by defender Sodiq Ayoade Yusuf. He was recognised after appearing in every match for Sporting Lagos during that month.
