Stanley Nwabali confident Super Eagles can overcome South Africa

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali says Nigeria have the quality and determination to overcome South Africa in Tuesday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein.

Nigeria sit third in Group C, six points behind leaders South Africa, and need a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

Nwabali, however, insists the squad has what it takes to rise to the occasion.

“I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I know we respect South Africa and they are topping the group,” the Chippa United shot-stopper told NFFTV.

“It’s going to be a tough game tomorrow. We are going to come out strong. Every game has its plan. When it comes to Nigeria, it’s different. Likewise other countries coming to play against Nigeria. I really feel we are going to win that game.”

The 27-year-old has been a consistent presence between the posts since his standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished runners-up.

His leadership and confidence could prove crucial as the Super Eagles seek to reignite their World Cup campaign.
