NPFL: Lekan Gabriel optimistic of Kun Khalifat’s chances against Nasarawa United

By Wale Mustapha

Kun Khalifat FC’s midfielder, Lekan Gabriel, has expressed confidence that his side will turn their fortunes around when they face league leaders Nasarawa United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this weekend.

The Owerri-based newcomers will host the Solid Miners at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, hoping to snap a three-match losing streak that has left them in a precarious position on the league table.

Kun Khalifat, currently sitting 17th with 12 points from 12 matches, are desperate for a win to kickstart their campaign and ease the pressure on their squad.

Coach Obinna Uzoho’s side has struggled for consistency this season, with their most recent defeat coming last Sunday, a 1-0 home loss to Rivers United.

Gabriel, who has been one of the team’s more experienced players, admitted that the current situation has been disappointing but insisted that the team is fully committed to improving.

“I can’t lie, nobody is happy with our present situation, which is why we are working hard in training to change that,” Gabriel said in an interview with Kun Khalifat media.

“We know we are capable of more, and we are going to give it our all. We are determined to get the result, and the maximum points will be ours.”

Kun Khalifat’s recent form has been a source of concern, but Gabriel’s belief in the team’s potential to overcome Nasarawa United, who have been strong leaders in the league, highlights the resolve within the squad.

The Lafia-based team knows that securing a win against the league leaders would be a significant morale boost as they look to climb up the table and stabilize their season.

“We understand the importance of this game, especially against a team like Nasarawa United. But we are ready to fight for the points, and we are focused on getting a positive result for the fans and the club,” Gabriel added.

As Kun Khalifat prepares for this crucial encounter, all eyes will be on the Dan Anyiam Stadium as the underdogs aim to upset the league leaders and prove that they have the strength and resolve to make a push up the NPFL standings.
