Abia Warriors boss Imama says Niger Tornadoes defeat is a ‘big lesson’

Abia Warriors head coach Imama Amapakabo says his team have much to learn after suffering a 1-0 home defeat by Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The Umu Chineke were beaten at Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday, with Wasiu Jimoh scoring the only goal four minutes before the hour mark.

The result gave Niger Tornadoes their first away victory of the season and moved Kabiru Dogo’s side up to ninth in the NPFL table. They now have 15 points from 10 matches.

Imama acknowledged the visitors’ performance after the match, praising their determination and resilience in securing an important result on the road.

“I think Tornadoes showed character and resilience to come here and produce such a great performance, and it is a big lesson for us,” Imama was quoted as saying by the NPFL media.

The defeat leaves Abia Warriors considering how to improve before their next league fixture as they attempt to recover from another disappointing home result.

The Umuahia-based club have won only once at home in the NPFL this season.
