Nduka Junior: Nigerian defender at Al-Najaf FC linked with Raja Casablanca move
Nduka Junior, the Nigerian centre-back currently at Al-Najaf FC in Iraq, is being linked with a move to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the Botola Pro Inwi.
The 22-year-old defender only joined Al-Najaf in January 2026 from fellow Iraq Stars League side Erbil SC, but his performances have attracted interest from across North Africa. Junior, who is valued at around €150,000, has established himself as a regular at his current club after signing midway through the 2025-26 campaign.
Raja’s interest comes as they look to strengthen their defensive options with a player who already has significant senior experience despite his age. Before leaving Nigeria, Junior made 121 league appearances in the NPFL and featured in the title-winning Remo Stars FC side in the 2024-25 season, also appearing in the NPFL playoffs and the CAF Champions League.
His involvement in continental competition with Remo Stars, including outings in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, is thought to be a key factor in Raja’s admiration as they plan for future campaigns.
Junior was born in Lagos in August 2003 and developed through the Remo Stars youth system before stepping up to the first team in 2019, eventually earning his move abroad in 2025. Standing at 1.81m and operating primarily as a right-footed centre-back, he has gained experience in both Nigerian and Iraqi top-flight football.
Junior’s contract length at Al-Najaf has not been made public, and there is no indication yet that negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage.
