Ajax eye move for Wolves and Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare after relegation

Ajax are weighing up a move for Nigerian centre-forward Tolu Arokodare, with the Wolves striker being lined up for a switch to the Eredivisie following the Midlands club’s relegation to the Championship.

The 25-year-old, who joined Wolves from Genk on 1 September 2025 for a reported €26m fee, is under contract at Molineux until June 2029 but is attracting interest from Amsterdam as Ajax look to reinforce their attacking options. Arokodare is currently valued at around €20m, leaving Wolves in a strong position to negotiate if they decide to cash in after dropping out of the Premier League at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Arokodare made 33 Premier League appearances for Wolves, scoring three goals and adding one assist, having arrived in England on the back of prolific form in Belgium. He hit 21 league goals for Genk in the 2024-25 Jupiler Pro League campaign, finishing as the division’s top scorer, and has 27 goals and 10 assists across 68 appearances in the Belgian top flight overall.

The Lagos-born forward, who stands at 1.97m and plays primarily as a central striker, also has a strong cup scoring record, including seven goals in eight Coupe de France outings earlier in his career. Ajax are thought to view his combination of physical presence and goalscoring pedigree in European leagues as a potential fit for their forward line.

With three years remaining on his deal at Wolves, any agreement is likely to depend on whether the Championship club choose to reshape their squad and raise funds following relegation.
