Rafiu Durosinmi scores again as Genk beat Virton to reach Belgian Cup next round

Super Eagles forward Rafiu Durosinmi continued his strong scoring run for KRC Genk by finding the net in their 2-0 victory over Virton in the Belgian Cup on Saturday.

Genk settled the tie before half-time, with Daan Heymans putting them ahead before Durosinmi added a second in the 28th minute.

The 23-year-old completed a through ball from Junya Ito with a composed finish between the goalkeeper’s legs.

Durosinmi said he briefly considered his options before deciding to take the opportunity.

“Daan helped set up the move and Ito played the ball to me. We click well. What we practice in training, we bring to the matches,” he said, as quoted by Het Belang van Limburg.

“I hesitated for a moment, but I saw there was space between the keeper’s legs and took the risk. A good goal.”

The strike was another indication of Durosinmi’s growing influence at Genk, where he has continued to make a significant contribution in front of goal since joining the Belgian club.

He now has seven goals in all competitions this season. Six of those have come in the Belgian Pro League, with the other arriving in the Belgian Cup.

Genk will return to Belgian Pro League action against Standard Liege on October 25, when Durosinmi will aim to extend his scoring form.
