Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has unveiled his new jersey number for Fulham ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
The Super Eagles forward, who has been wearing the number 22 jersey since joining Fulham from Everton, has now been assigned his preferred number 17, the same number he wears for the national team.
Iwobi, 28, expressed his delight at this change. During his time wearing the number 22 shirt, he enjoyed his best campaign in seven seasons, scoring six goals and providing two assists in all competitions for the Cottagers. Despite his success with the number 22, Iwobi has always preferred the number 17, which he dons for Nigeria.
Celebrating the return of his favored number ahead of the 2024/25 season, Iwobi took to social media to share his excitement. “Rumour Has It… 17 Is Back!” he posted, along with images of his new jersey.
This change is a significant moment for Iwobi, aligning his club and international identities and setting the stage for what he hopes will be another successful season with Fulham.
