Amas Obasogie Denies Match-Fixing Allegations After Singida Suspension

Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has strongly denied allegations of match-fixing following his temporary suspension by Singida Black Stars S.C..
The club took the decision after raising concerns over goals conceded in a CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Flambeau du Centre FC, as well as in a domestic league clash with Namungo F.C..
Obasogie, who has represented Nigeria at international level, accepted responsibility for his performances but firmly rejected any suggestion of deliberate wrongdoing, describing the incidents as genuine mistakes rather than intentional acts.
“I understand match-fixing is a serious allegation, and I would never risk my reputation, career or integrity,” he said.
The shot-stopper confirmed his readiness to appear before a disciplinary committee to address the claims and expressed confidence that he will clear his name.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Obasogie reiterated his commitment to Singida Black Stars, stressing the importance of the club to his professional journey.
“I remain committed to serving the club with honour and contributing to its success,” he added, urging supporters and stakeholders not to conflate on-field errors with allegations of match manipulation.
