Barca chief denies Robert Lewandowski talks

Barcelona director Mateu Alemany has dismissed any reports that the Catalan giants spoke with Robert Lewandowski’s agent lately to explore a summer move to Camp Nou.

The Poland international’s future at Bayern Munich remains in doubt, as his current deal at the Allianz Arena expires in June 2023.

Bayern Munich are reportedly willing to trade Lewandowski this summer if he does not sign a contract extension, as they fear losing him on a free transfer at the conclusion of next season.

Barcelona have been heavily connected with the seasoned striker, with reports claiming that the La Liga club has already met with his agent Pini Zahavi to explore a summer transfer.

Alemany, however, stated when questioned about the latest rumors that his club had not met with the Bayern forward’s agents.

“There was no meeting with Lewandowski’s agent. Also, I don’t like to speak about the negotiations process – it’s something private. We don’t like to discuss players who are under contract with other clubs,” Alemany told Movistar.

The 33-year-old was once again in fine form at club level in 2021-22, scoring 49 goals in 44 games and adding six assists.
