Bundesliga: Victor Boniface thrilled to mark scoring return with Bayer Leverkusen

By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has expressed his joy at scoring upon his return to action with German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

The Super Eagles forward, who had been sidelined since November due to injury, found the back of the net in Leverkusen’s 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim on Sunday.

Starting the match, Boniface opened the scoring for his side before being substituted at halftime. The 24-year-old was clearly pleased with his return to form and his contribution to the team’s success.

“I feel happy, I feel great. It has been a long time since I’ve been out, I think almost two months, so to be back and playing games is really good for me,” Boniface said.

“It feels good to score, not just as a striker but for the team, especially to score an early goal against a top team like this. It really helps build confidence, and you can see that after the goal, the team gained more confidence to score more.”

Boniface has now netted seven goals in 11 league appearances for Leverkusen this season, continuing to make a significant impact for the club.
