On Monday, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), President of the Nigeria Football Federation, officially launched the inaugural group of participants for the CAF B-Licence Coaching Course at the NFF-FIFA Technical Centre located within the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The NFF President expressed his satisfaction at this important development, stating, “Today is a day of great joy for me,” and underscoring the significance of advancement in Nigerian football.
“This initiative has been in the works for quite some time, and witnessing its realization today is immensely gratifying. I am also pleased to welcome coaches from other countries who are participating in this essential training program.”
He praised the NFF Technical Department, under the leadership of Coach Augustine Eguavoen, for their hard work in organizing the course, acknowledging the collaborative effort involved.
“I encourage all participants to avoid distractions and fully engage in this educational opportunity,” he advised.
“This is an excellent chance for personal development. By the end of this year, we plan to introduce a CAF A-License program, and I am confident that with the dedication of the Technical Department, we will succeed.”
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the NFF, emphasized that this program will enhance the quality of coaching in Nigeria’s football leagues, warning that a lack of elite coaches could negatively impact the performance of all teams.
“Our goal is to create an environment where our coaches can adopt modern techniques and strategies, and importantly, to ensure they are certified, as without the B-License, participation in international competitions, such as inter-club tournaments, is not possible.”
The CAF B-Licence coaching course is a vital component of the NFF’s strategic plan to elevate the skills of coaches across Nigeria.
The course will span four months and will be delivered in various modules.
