Daryl Dike: USA-Nigeria forward linked with Orlando return from free agency

United States-Nigeria striker Daryl Dike, currently without a club after leaving West Bromwich Albion, is being linked with a return to MLS side Orlando. The 26-year-old centre-forward is a free agent following his West Brom departure on 1 July 2026 and is understood to be on Orlando’s radar as they assess attacking options for the next phase of the season.

Dike, who holds dual United States and Nigeria nationality and was born in Edmond, Oklahoma, previously played for Orlando after joining them from the University of Virginia in 2020. He later moved permanently to West Brom in January 2022, when the Championship club paid a reported €8.63m fee as his market value peaked at €10m. His valuation now stands at around €1m, a figure that could make a deal attractive if Orlando decide to formalise their interest.

During his first spell with Orlando, Dike established himself as a productive goalscorer in MLS, scoring 18 goals in 35 league appearances. That form, including strong minutes-per-goal returns, contributed to his move to England and a subsequent loan stint with Barnsley in the Championship before his permanent switch to West Brom.

At international level, Dike was part of the United States squad that won the Gold Cup in 2021, adding senior silverware early in his career. For now, he remains unattached after his contract at The Hawthorns ended this summer, with discussions over a possible Orlando reunion yet to progress beyond the rumour stage.
