Eloghosa Newton Sunday: Nigerian teenage striker makes Unipomezia switch from Verona U18

Nigerian centre-forward Eloghosa Newton Sunday has joined Italian side Unipomezia from Verona U18, sealing a move into Serie D at the age of just 17. The deal takes the young attacker from under-18s football into a senior league environment as he continues his career in Italy.
Sunday moves from Verona’s youth set-up to Unipomezia’s first-team squad, where he will compete in Serie D – Group F. The transfer is a completed move between the two Italian clubs, with the forward now registered to play for the Lazio-based side in the new campaign.
Capable of leading the line through the middle, Sunday’s arrival gives Unipomezia another option at centre-forward as they prepare for the demands of a full Serie D season. The step up from under-18 competition represents a significant change in intensity and physicality for the teenager, who will now be facing experienced senior defenders on a regular basis.
Having developed within Verona’s under-18 ranks, Sunday now enters a different stage of his development in a league known for mixing emerging talents with seasoned lower-league professionals. His move also underlines the growing presence of young Nigerian players across the Italian football pyramid.
Sunday’s transfer to Unipomezia is effective from 27 July 2026, with the Nigerian forward now part of the Serie D – Group F club’s attacking options for the forthcoming season.
