FCT SWAN congratulates NFF President Ibrahim Gusau on election as WAFU B President

By Dayo Awoniyi

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Federal Capital Territory Chapter, extends its warmest congratulations to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, on his election as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.

In his congratulatory message, Acting FCT SWAN Chairman, Mr. Victor Okoye, hailed Gusau’s new position as a deserved honour that reflects the high regard in which he is held across West Africa.

“Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has consistently demonstrated purposeful leadership, both at home and on the continental stage. His election is not just a personal milestone but a significant moment for Nigerian football,” Okoye remarked.

“It affirms the growing trust and confidence in his ability to unify, reform, and elevate the game across the region. We are proud of this achievement and confident that his tenure will leave a lasting legacy in WAFU B.”

Notably, his elevation comes just 24 hours after the Flying Eagles of Nigeria secured a bronze medal at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt—another positive milestone under his leadership at the NFF.

Having previously served as First Vice President of WAFU B, he now assumes the presidency following the election of Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku as First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He is expected to complete the remainder of Okraku’s tenure.

Alhaji Gusau’s emergence as WAFU B President is a testament to his unwavering dedication, astute leadership, and growing influence within regional and continental football administration.

FCT SWAN applauds this new chapter in Alhaji Gusau’s leadership journey and reaffirms its belief that his tenure will usher in deeper collaboration, stronger football structures, and continued growth for the beautiful game in West Africa.
