Turkish champions Galatasaray have confirmed that Victor Osimhen sustained a moderate ankle ligament sprain during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda last weekend.
The 25-year-old striker limped off in Kigali and returned to Istanbul on Sunday aboard a private jet arranged by the club. Upon arrival, he underwent thorough medical examinations at Galatasaray’s partner hospital.
Team doctor Op. Dr. Yener İnce provided an update following the scans.
“During the examinations carried out today on our first-team player Victor Osimhen, a moderate ankle ligament sprain (with stretching and bleeding) was diagnosed.
“The necessary treatment has been initiated to ensure his return to the pitch as soon as possible.”
Although Galatasaray has not specified a recovery timeline, the Super Eagles forward will be monitored closely in the coming days.
His availability remains uncertain ahead of the club’s Süper Lig resumption against Eyüpspor and their UEFA Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt.
