Iheanacho needs goals in 11 more matches to equal Bican record – IFFHS

Kelechi Iheanacho has been told he is 11 matches away from equalling Josef Bican’s world record for scoring in consecutive official games, according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
The Super Eagles striker has begun the Turkish TFF 1. Lig season in outstanding form since moving to Bursaspor from Scottish club Celtic during the summer transfer window.
Iheanacho has scored in each of the 11 league matches he has played in a Bursaspor shirt. His goals in the division form part of a personal tally of 15 this season.
He also scored for Nigeria in their friendly against Russia, extending his run to 12 successive matches in which he has found the net.
The IFFHS says Iheanacho must score in 11 more consecutive matches to draw level with Bican’s record of 23 games. Bican’s mark is recognised as the world record for goals scored in consecutive official matches.
The current recognised record for consecutive league games is held by Lionel Messi, who scored in 21 successive La Liga matches for Barcelona, according to OptaJose statistics.
