Niger Tornadoes aim to extend unbeaten run against Abia Warriors

Niger Tornadoes will travel to Aba, Abia State, on Sunday determined to extend their unbeaten run when they face Abia Warriors in their Matchday 10 fixture.
The Minna-based side have gone three games without defeat, recording two wins and one draw, and will be seeking to end October strongly with another positive result.
Their latest success came last weekend at Bako Kontagora Stadium, where they defeated Ikorodu City 2-1. The victory provided a significant boost to their confidence ahead of the trip to Abia.
Nafiu Obalowu put Niger Tornadoes in front in the 27th minute, while Bashir Musa added a second in the 82nd minute after reacting quickest to a rebound.
Ikorodu City reduced the deficit through Basit Ayinde in the 93rd minute, but Niger Tornadoes held on to claim all three points.
The result moved Majin Mohammed’s team from 15th to 11th in the NPFL standings. They have 12 points from nine matches, while Abia Warriors are 16th on 10 points.
Abia Warriors have drawn their past two games, playing out a goalless draw with Rivers United before a 1-1 result against Kwara United.
Recent meetings have favoured Abia Warriors, who won both encounters with Niger Tornadoes during the 2025/26 season. Each of those matches ended 2-1, with Abia Warriors claiming victory at home and away.
Abia Warriors unbeaten at home
Abia Warriors will take confidence from their record at Umuahia Township Stadium, where they have not lost this season. Their home record includes one win and three draws, although they have scored only five goals in nine games.
The match brings together two sides looking to move away from the bottom half of the table and mount a challenge for a place in the top 10.
Niger Tornadoes’ recent unbeaten run has lifted them into 11th position, but Abia Warriors have the opportunity to close the gap with a home victory on Sunday.
