Jose Mourinho matches Real Madrid’s historic Clasico unbeaten record after 13 years

Jose Mourinho marked his return to the Clasico by guiding Real Madrid to a 2-1 victory over Barcelona and matching a historic club record.
Mourinho celebrated Kylian Mbappe’s late winning goal by sliding on his knees, a familiar sight from the Portuguese manager, as Real Madrid maintained their recent dominance over their fiercest rivals.
According to BBC, Mourinho has become only the third Real Madrid manager to oversee six consecutive Clasico matches without defeat. The achievement came 13 years after he last led the Spanish club in the fixture.
Mourinho’s record across those six matches is four wins and two draws against Barcelona. He now joins Miguel Munoz, who achieved the same run between 1962 and 1965, and Vicente del Bosque, whose unbeaten sequence stretched from 2001 to 2003.
The victory was only Real Madrid’s second in their past eight matches against Barcelona. However, the return of Mourinho to the fixture proved significant as the reigning champions suffered a major setback at Camp Nou.
Mbappe scored twice in the match, including the late goal that secured the win for Real Madrid. The result also ended Barcelona’s nine-match unbeaten run in domestic competitions.
Real Madrid’s success therefore delivered a double boost: it strengthened Mourinho’s record in one of football’s most closely watched fixtures while stopping Barcelona’s lengthy sequence without defeat.
