Katsina United snatch late draw against Plateau United in NPFL thriller

Katsina United scored twice in the closing stages to come from behind and draw 2-2 with Plateau United in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 10 meeting at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Saturday.

Plateau United took the lead in the 30th minute when Umar Rabiu turned the ball into his own net. The visitors protected their advantage until half-time and appeared to be on course for an important away victory.

Their position strengthened eight minutes from the end of normal time when Jibril Ibrahim scored to put Plateau United 2-0 ahead.

Katsina United responded almost immediately. Yusha’u Armiya’u reduced the deficit in the 84th minute, giving the home side a chance of salvaging a result.

The equaliser arrived deep into stoppage time, with Rabiu recovering from his earlier own goal by finding the net at the right end to secure a point for Katsina United.

The late turnaround denied Plateau United all three points after they had held a two-goal lead with only a few minutes remaining.

Seven other Matchday 10 fixtures are scheduled to be played at venues across the country on Sunday.
