Cristiano Ronaldo marks Al Nassr’s 71st anniversary with short message

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a brief message to mark the 71st anniversary of Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

The club was founded on 24 October 1955 and is celebrating its anniversary on Saturday. Ronaldo posted on X: “71 years of passion, happy birthday to Al Nassr.”

Al Nassr subsequently shared the message on its official X account, adding: “A great legacy and history have been recorded and written over 71 years. Together, we will create and write a new history to be told.”

Ronaldo has been with Al Nassr since January 2023, when he joined the club on a free transfer after his contract with former club Manchester United was terminated before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Since arriving at Al-Awwal Park, the Portugal international has worn the captain’s armband for the Riyadh-based side. He also helped Al Nassr win the Roshn Saudi League title last season, ending a seven-year wait for the championship.

Ronaldo has also won the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup with Al Nassr and finished as the leading scorer in the Roshn Saudi League in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

The 41-year-old is now pursuing another significant milestone while at the club. He needs 18 more goals to become the first player in football history to score 1,000 goals.
