Kelechi Iheanacho’s 12-match scoring streak ends in Turkey

Kelechi Iheanacho’s record-breaking run of scoring in 12 consecutive matches ended on Saturday after the Super Eagles forward failed to score for Bursaspor against Bandırmaspor.

Iheanacho, who joined Bursaspor at the beginning of the season, had set a record in the Turkish leagues by finding the net in 12 successive games.

His run came to an end despite Bursaspor securing a convincing 3-0 victory in their TFF 1. Lig Matchday 13 fixture at the Centennial Ataturk Stadium.

Halil Akbunar opened the scoring for Bursaspor in the seventh minute before Lewis Baker added two further goals. Baker struck in the 12th and 23rd minutes to complete the scoring.

The result gave Bursaspor, known as ‘The Crocodiles’, their fourth consecutive league victory.

The Green-Whites now have 31 points and finished the week at the top of the TFF 1. Lig table.
