Okoye concedes five as Roma punish Udinese in 5-2 Serie A win

Maduka Okoye endured a difficult evening as Udinese were beaten 5-2 by AS Roma in Saturday’s Serie A meeting at the Bluenergy Stadium.
The result marked the Nigeria goalkeeper’s 10th league appearance of the 2026/27 Serie A campaign, but he was beaten five times as Udinese struggled to contain Roma’s attacking threat.
Roma established a decisive advantage before half-time, scoring four goals during a dominant opening 45 minutes. Their pace, movement and attacking combinations repeatedly exposed weaknesses in the home side’s defensive structure.
The visitors applied sustained pressure from the outset, finding space between Udinese’s midfield and defensive lines and making the most of their attacking transitions. Roma’s players moved the ball effectively and finished their opportunities with clinical efficiency, leaving the hosts facing a formidable deficit at the interval.
Udinese were unable to cope with the intensity of Roma’s forward play in the first half. Their defensive vulnerabilities were repeatedly targeted, with the Giallorossi taking control of the contest and putting the home side in a position from which recovery appeared unlikely.
The hosts responded with greater purpose after the break. Udinese increased their intensity, committed more players forward and scored twice to give their supporters something to encourage after a one-sided first half.
That improvement was not enough to change the outcome. Roma continued to manage the match effectively and protected their sizeable lead to complete a convincing 5-2 victory and take all three points.
For Okoye, the match was a disappointing personal outing as well as a difficult result for Udinese. The five goals conceded underlined the problems the hosts faced in dealing with Roma’s attacking movement and the pressure applied throughout the game.
The defeat gives Roma a significant boost in their Serie A campaign. Udinese and their Super Eagles goalkeeper will now seek to put the performance behind them and improve their defensive organisation before their next league fixture.
