King Mohammed VI Orders Hero’s Welcome for Morocco’s U-20 World Cup Champions

His Majesty King Mohammed VI has directed that Morocco’s under-20 national football team be accorded a hero’s welcome on Wednesday, October 22, in celebration of their unprecedented World Cup triumph in Chile.

In an official statement, the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery announced that the royal directive honors the team’s historic sporting achievement — the first of its kind for the kingdom at this level.

According to the statement, His Majesty the King will personally receive the players and officials at the Royal Palace in Rabat before a grand popular procession is held in their honor.

The public celebration will commence at approximately 6:30 p.m. as the team departs from the Royal Palace, passing through Bab Essoufara and continuing along Avenue Mohammed V, where supporters are expected to gather in large numbers to applaud the young world champions.

The U-20 squad’s remarkable victory in Chile has been hailed across Morocco as a defining moment in the nation’s football history and a source of immense pride for Moroccan sport.
