Mbappe answers El Clasico victory with one word after Real Madrid beat Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe summed up Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in Sunday’s La Liga El Clasico with a single, sarcastic word during a light-hearted video call.

The France forward scored both of Real Madrid’s goals as they ended Barcelona’s unbeaten league run and moved to within three points of the leaders.

Mbappe later appeared on a video call with comedian Elias Djadel and content creator Noah Lounsi. Looking visibly pleased, the Real Madrid striker was asked about the result and responded in a playful tone: “NORMAAAAAL” – meaning “normal” or “usual”.

The performance continued an outstanding start to the season for the former Paris Saint-Germain player. Mbappe has scored 14 goals in 13 matches in all competitions, sending a strong message only hours before the Ballon d’Or ceremony takes place in London on Monday.

The victory was particularly significant for Real Madrid because it halted Barcelona’s unbeaten sequence in La Liga. Barcelona remain top of the table, but their advantage has been reduced to three points.

Mbappe’s record against Barcelona

Sunday’s match was the 11th time Mbappe has faced Barcelona during his career. He has won four of those matches, lost six and drawn one.

Four of those appearances came while he was playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappe won two, drew one and lost one of those meetings.

Since joining Real Madrid, he has played Barcelona seven times, recording two victories and five defeats.

Across his 11 matches against the Catalan club, Mbappe has scored 14 goals.

The relevant La Liga fixtures listed alongside the result are Barcelona against Deportivo Alaves on 31 October 2026, and Racing Santander against Real Madrid on 1 November 2026.
