Mohamed Salah transfer to Trabzonspor moves closer after club approves merchandise clause
Mohamed Salah is reportedly close to completing a move to Trabzonspor after the Turkish club agreed to a special clause in the former Liverpool forward’s proposed contract.
Reports in Turkey say Salah has agreed to join Trabzonspor during the current summer transfer window on a two-year contract. However, the deal had been waiting for the club to approve one outstanding condition before the transfer could be formally completed.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has now revealed details of the clause, which could allow the Egypt international to finalise his move to Trabzonspor within the next few hours.
Writing on his personal account on X, Sabuncuoglu reported that Salah will receive 20% of the income generated from products carrying his name that Trabzonspor sells in the coming period.
That demand had also been among the issues that delayed Salah’s proposed transfer to Besiktas, despite the two parties reaching agreement on most of the contract’s terms.
The latest developments bring an end to another twist in the uncertainty surrounding Salah’s next club. He had initially been linked with a move to Besiktas, but negotiations became complicated before the Saudi Arabian Football Federation made an offer to sign him.
Salah, however, preferred a move to Turkey, and Trabzonspor subsequently emerged as his expected destination.
If completed, the transfer would make Trabzonspor the seventh club of Salah’s career. He began with Egyptian side El Mokawloon, before moving to Swiss club Basel.
His career then continued in Italy with Fiorentina and Roma, followed by spells in England with Chelsea and Liverpool.
Liverpool has been the most significant stage of Salah’s career. He spent nine full years at the club between 2017 and 2026, winning the English Premier League twice, as well as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup once each.
Salah’s proposed move to Trabzonspor would therefore represent a major change after his long spell at Anfield. The Turkish club’s approval of the merchandise arrangement has removed the final reported obstacle to the agreement, with the formal signing now expected to follow shortly.
