NPFL unveils new identity as Euromatch becomes official league sponsor
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has launched a new logo and confirmed Euromatch as its official sponsor as part of a wider effort to strengthen the competition’s commercial position and begin a new phase in its development.
The league’s refreshed identity was unveiled on Wednesday at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Abuja, during a ceremony attended by leading figures from Nigerian football and representatives of Euromatch.
The partnership with Euromatch is regarded as an important step in the NPFL’s attempt to build a stronger financial foundation, improve its visibility and increase the overall appeal of the country’s top-flight competition.
The new logo is intended to give the league a more modern and distinctive visual identity. It will also support wider work aimed at improving the organisation, presentation and marketing of the competition.
Euromatch’s involvement provides the NPFL with additional corporate backing as it seeks to create a more commercially sustainable platform for professional football in Nigeria. The league is also looking to establish a stronger identity within an increasingly competitive African football market.
Attention will now focus on how the new sponsorship arrangement delivers practical benefits for the competition’s clubs, players and supporters. Areas expected to be influenced include branding, fan engagement and the broader development of the league.
The NPFL remains Nigeria’s premier domestic football competition and continues to serve as an important pathway for players who go on to represent the national team or pursue professional careers overseas.
The unveiling of the logo and sponsorship deal comes as the league continues its efforts to increase its commercial value and attract stronger long-term investment. The changes are intended to complement ongoing attempts to improve the competition’s structure and strengthen its profile among supporters, businesses and the wider football community.
The ceremony was attended by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye and Group Chairman of Euromatch Group, Sacli Semih.
The event brought together key stakeholders from Nigerian football alongside representatives of the league’s new commercial partner, marking a significant moment in the NPFL’s efforts to reposition itself both nationally and across the African football landscape.
The league’s new commercial direction will be judged by how effectively the partnership translates into improvements beyond the visual rebrand. For clubs and players, the expectation is that greater commercial support can help create a more stable and attractive professional environment. For supporters, the focus will be on whether the deal contributes to stronger engagement and a better overall competition experience.
