Napoli President confirms imminent extension of Victor Osimhen’s contract

President of Italian Serie A champions Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis has disclosed that Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen will soon sign a new contract with the Serie A champions.
The former Lille star has been subject to transfer moves to major clubs in Europe and Asia. Osimhen has a contract with Napoli till June 2025.
The Napoli president said he had reached a gentleman’s agreement with the striker’s camp to extend the contract by two more years. With no potential move to another club yet for the 24-year-old, De Laurentiis claims the Super Eagles star will soon put pen to paper with Napoli.
“With Osimhen, we are about to sign the contract that was pending this summer,” De Laurentiis said at an event in Naples.
This is Osimhen’s fourth season at the Neapolitan since completing his switch from the French side, Lille ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
He scored 26 goals with four assists to help the Italian side to the Scudetto last season and is the favourite to win the 2023 African Player of the Year award after being the only African in the top-10 in the Ballon d’Or this year.
