Nigeria duo secure promotion to Czech women’s top flight

Nigeria duo of Adaobi Okah and Folorunsho Comfort will play top flight football in Czech Republic next season.

This follows their Club, Ostrava’s promotion to the top flight from Czech Republic 2. Liga Women over the weekend.

Ostrava’s 1-0 win against Ceske Budejovice sealed their progression to the top flight.

Katerina Gaurova scored the winning goal for Ostrava in the 33rd minute rounding up a successful season for the host.

Okah saw 77 minutes of action and was replaced by Najvarova. Her compatriot, Folorunsho was an unused substitute for the clash.

Ostrava sealed their promotion ticket despite second placed finish with 49 points as league leaders, Sparta Prague B already have their main team in the top flight.

Regulations forbid dual ownership of teams in the top division.

The feat marked a remarkable season for Okah and Folorunsho being their first outside Nigeria.

They joined Ostrava after playing for Remo Stars Ladies and Edo Queens respectively in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.
