NPFL MD 27 Wrap: Enugu Rangers stun rivals Heartland to go top

Enugu Rangers secured a vital away victory, while Lobi Stars faced a draw in Matchday 27 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

The Promise Keepers, Enugu Rangers, clinched a hard-fought 2-1 win against Heartland away from home in Aba. Onyebuchi Ifeanyi and Kalu Nweke found the net for the visitors, with Ebuka Ognonna pulling one back for Heartland in added time.

In Makurdi, Lobi Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United. Sunday Chinedu scored for the hosts, but Kehinde Malik equalized for Bayelsa United.

Meanwhile, Remo Stars secured a late 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance, with goals from Olamilekan Adedayo and Hadi Usman in the 81st and 87th minutes, respectively.

In Ilorin, Kwara United emerged victorious over Enyimba with a 2-1 win, courtesy of a brace from Emmanuel Ogbole.

Other matches saw Katsina United come from behind to defeat Abia Warriors 2-1, while Akwa United claimed a 2-1 away win against Plateau United, with Sani Suleiman scoring the winner from the spot in the 90th minute.

The encounter between Sunshine Stars and Rivers United was postponed due to Rivers United’s continental commitments.

Heartland remained at the bottom of the table with 23 points, trailing behind Gombe United (24 points) and Niger Tornadoes (30 points).
