NPFL: Sporting Lagos engage former Nigeria U20 coach as Technical Director

Newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League, (NPFL) side, Sporting Lagos has engaged the services of Paul Aigbogun as the club’s Technical Director.
The Noisy Lagosians announced Aigbogun’s appointment on Friday as Aigbogun, who was the head coach of the Nigeria U-20 team in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup is a UEFA-licensed coach.
He has handled notable NPFL clubs in the past including Enyimba FC and Warri Wolves.
Aigbogun guided the People’s Elephant to win Federation Cup in 2013 and also led them to semifinals of CAF Champions League in 2018.
The former Cape Town FC handler also previously served as the Deputy Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).
Over the past year, Aigbogun has worked behind the scenes and played a vital role in Sporting Lagos’ promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the NPFL.
He was also instrumental in establishing the club’s football academy and facilitated the collaboration between the Lagos based club and Danish club, Aarhus Fremad.
As Technical Director at Sporting Lagos, Aigbogun will provide technical support for the senior team and the academy.
Speaking on his new role, Aigbogun said:”I’m delighted to be here. We’ve achieved a lot in two years and we’re still learning, but we’re very ambitious.
“We aim for excellence across the first team and youth levels, as well as at Aarhus. We have an outstanding team, both on and off the pitch, and we’re going to push as far as we can.”

Sporting Lagos are 10th on the eight week old NPFL log with 11 points and will hope to improve on that as they tao on five times champions, Heartland FC on Sunday.
