NPFL: “We will not give up” – Heartland coach Charles Uzor retains hope for survival

By Wale Mustapha
Heartland FC coach Charles Uzor has vowed that his team will continue fighting for survival in this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), despite their latest setback.
The Naze Millionaires are currently in the relegation zone following a disappointing 1-0 loss to Abia Warriors in Owerri on Sunday.
Sunday Megwo’s free-kick goal proved to be the match-winner, avenging Abia Warriors’ first-leg defeat to Heartland.
Uzor, who stood in for the club’s Head Coach Emmanuel Amuneke after the tough loss, acknowledged that while the defeat was a setback, it can be overcome.
“We will not give up — no, we won’t give up. It’s sad to lose a game like this after all we put into it, but that’s football,” Uzor said, speaking to Heartland media.
“We will fight until the very last minute because I believe it’s not over until it’s really over.”
Heartland are now winless in five consecutive matches, having managed just two points from a possible 15.
The Owerri-based side will look to bounce back when they face fellow relegation strugglers Sunshine Stars in Ikenne on Wednesday.
