NWFL Announces Simultaneous Kick-Off for Key Premiership Matches

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed that two important fixtures will start at the same time. This move aims to promote fairness and protect the competition’s integrity.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, both Match No. 111 and Match No. 112 will begin at 3:00pm. Match No. 111 features Naija Ratels FC against Bayelsa Queens FC in Abuja. Match No. 112 pits FC Robo Queens against Delta Queens FC in Lagos.

An official memo signed by NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, was sent to the clubs and the Lagos State and FCT Football Associations. The letter stresses the importance of proper coordination and following the rules.

Shabi said, “This change is necessary to keep the game fair. It also helps protect the integrity of the competition.” She added, “Having both matches start at the same time prevents any team from gaining an unfair advantage.”

Both Robo Queens and Naija Ratels are fighting for the last spot in the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six. This is a crucial match since the third-place team in Group B will qualify.

Robo Queens, in their tenth season in the top league, hope to reach the Super Six for the first time since 2023. Naija Ratels want to make their second appearance in three seasons. Their first was in 2022 when they qualified in their debut season.

The team that finishes third will join the current champions, Edo Queens, along with Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, and Remo Stars Ladies. The final spots promise an exciting finish to the season.
