Sabo Okala, the Head Coach of Confluence Queens FC, has emphasized that his team is treating their upcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership clash against Heartland Queens as just another fixture in their schedule, rather than attaching any special significance to it.

The Lokoja-based club is set to host their counterparts from Owerri in Matchday 12 of the league at Iyahmo on Wednesday. Despite the proximity in points on the Group A log, with Confluence Queens sitting third with 18 points, just three points behind Heartland who lead the pack with 21 points, Okala maintains that his team’s approach remains consistent.

Speaking exclusively to Nigeriafootball.ng, the former Honey Badgers’ coach downplayed any sense of desperation to win the match, asserting that it will be approached with the same mentality and determination as any other game with the aim of achieving success.

“It’s good to see the match drawing attention from lovers of women’s football, and while it’s true that it’s an important match, we are not placing any special emphasis on it,” Okala commented.

“It’s a normal fixture that must be played, and just like any other matches we’ve played, we will take it with all seriousness and the desire to win it.”

Acknowledging Heartland’s qualities and their position at the top of the table, Okala emphasized that Confluence Queens approach every opponent with respect but without viewing them as adversaries. He concluded, “We are aware of their qualities and their position which we respect, but we have no foes.”
