Oyo Gov Makinde boosts Shooting Stars with two buses after Sfaxien CAFCC win

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the immediate release of two buses to Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan following the club’s impressive victory over Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The buses, comprising a 32-seater and an 18-seater, are expected to support the Oluyole Warriors’ activities as they continue their campaign on the continental stage.

The approval was announced in a statement issued by Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Sunday.

According to the statement, the governor’s gesture followed Shooting Stars’ 1-0 victory over CS Sfaxien in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

The result gave the Nigerian club an important advantage ahead of the return leg in Tunisia.

“The approval underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting the Oluyole Warriors as they represent Oyo State on the continental stage,” the statement said.

Shooting Stars’ participation in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup marks their return to continental competition after a 27-year absence.

The state government said it would continue to provide the necessary support to help the club remain in contention for continental honours.

Makinde also assured supporters that his administration was committed to sustaining the momentum around the club and helping restore the former glory of the “Darling Club of Oyo State.”

The commissioner urged the players, technical crew and management to remain focused and committed as they pursue progress in the competition.

The two buses are expected to provide a further logistical boost to Shooting Stars as they balance their domestic commitments with their continental campaign.

The club will now turn its attention to the second leg against CS Sfaxien as it seeks to protect its first-leg advantage and advance to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
