Real Madrid reconsider Endrick future amid fresh loan talk

Brazilian forward Endrick faces renewed uncertainty over his role at Real Madrid, despite impressing during a productive loan spell at Lyon last season.

The 19-year-old is due to report back to Madrid on 28 July following his holiday, but his return date does not guarantee him a place in Jose Mourinho’s revamped squad at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With the club still weighing up further reinforcements in attacking areas, Endrick’s status has become one of the key unresolved issues heading into pre-season.

According to ESPN journalist Rodra, Real Madrid “do not rule out loaning Endrick out again this summer, even though the player is determined to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and compete for regular minutes”.

The report adds that Mourinho intends to take a close look at the teenager during pre-season before making a definitive call on where he will play next term.

Young forwards under review

Endrick will be assessed alongside fellow forward Gonzalo Garcia, who has been attracting interest from Premier League side Fulham.

At this stage, the expectation within the club is that one of the two youngsters will leave on loan if Real Madrid manage to secure the signing of another high-profile striker.

Such a move would further congest the attacking hierarchy, placing additional pressure on Endrick’s hopes of breaking into the first team immediately after his return.

Player’s camp revises priorities

ESPN also report that Endrick’s representatives have explored the possibility of arranging another loan move for the Brazilian.

However, their stance has evolved compared to previous discussions, when regular playing time elsewhere was viewed as essential preparation in the build-up to the World Cup.

The latest plan from the player’s camp is for Endrick to remain at Real Madrid and fight for his place, even if that initially involves accepting a reduced role at the start of the season.

That shift underlines a growing willingness from Endrick and his entourage to prioritise integration at the Bernabeu over guaranteed minutes away from the club, while leaving the door open for a loan if Mourinho ultimately decides he cannot offer the teenager sufficient opportunities.
