Nigeria forward, Rinsola Babajide scored a goal as Costa Adeje Tenerife succumbed to a 2-1 loss against second-placed Real Madrid in Spanish women’s top-flight contest on Sunday.

2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup winner, Olga Carmona scored the first goal of the match for the capital side from the penalty spot in the 28th minute.

Ten minutes into the second half, the visitors responded with the equaliser as Babajide converted Beatriz Beltran Sanz’s assist.

As the game was approaching a stalemate, Sandie Toletti set up Signe Bruun for the winning goal in the additional minutes of the second half as Real Madrid got the winner.

Gift Monday replaced Babajide in the 82nd minute after the latter scored her second goal of the campaign.

The former England youth international has bagged three assists for Tenerife after 18 outings this season.

Costa Adeje Tenerife occupy the ninth position on the log with 20 points after 18 games.

The team will next host Villarreal on March 9, 2024, after the international break where Babajide and Gift will face Cameroon in Paris 2024 Olympics Qualifiers.
