Ryan Alebiosu injury doubt for Blackburn’s Championship clash with West Ham

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray says Ryan Alebiosu could miss Saturday’s Championship meeting with West Ham United after the Super Eagles right-back suffered an injury against Stoke City.

The 24-year-old was substituted during the first half of Blackburn’s 2-1 defeat at Stoke on Tuesday, leaving his involvement at Ewood Park in doubt.

Blackburn are waiting for further medical examinations to determine the seriousness of the problem. Mowbray said Alebiosu was still badly affected when he reported for the team meeting.

“He came into the team meeting limping pretty heavily. I think he’ll probably have a scan. I don’t know; let’s wait to see it,” Mowbray said, as quoted by the Lancashire Telegraph.

The Blackburn manager has not ruled out Alebiosu recovering in time to face West Ham, but said the defender’s availability would depend on the scan results.

Mowbray added: “I don’t want to speculate; there’s every chance he could be out there on Saturday. But if the scan shows something specifically, he probably won’t be.”
