Motsepe praises Nigeria’s Flamingos after historic U-17 World Cup final place

Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has congratulated Nigeria’s Flamingos after they became the first African team to reach the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Flamingos secured their place in Sunday’s showpiece with a 3-1 semi-final victory over Brazil in Rabat on Wednesday night.

Akeem Busari’s side made history with the result, surpassing the previous best performance by an African nation in the competition.

Motsepe praised the Nigerian players and said their achievement had made both Africa and CAF proud.

The South African football administrator is expected to attend the final in Rabat, where Nigeria will face Japan as they attempt to win the title for the first time.
