Samuel Chukwueze: Nigeria winger happy to net first Serie A goal for AC Milan

Nigerian international, Samuel Chukwueze, endured a wait before netting his first goal in Serie A.

However, the wait proved worthwhile as he played a pivotal role in AC Milan’s 3-1 victory against Hellas Verona, re-establishing their two-goal lead with a brilliant volley.

Chukwueze’s journey to scoring in Serie A began after his €20m move from Villarreal to AC Milan last summer. Prior to this match, he had scored only two goals in 22 appearances across all competitions, both in Champions League matches, including one against Newcastle away in December 2023.

After 16 appearances and 628 minutes of play in Serie A, the 22-year-old forward finally registered his first goal in the league. The goal brought a moment of relief for Chukwueze, who had been striving to deliver his best performance for the team.

Speaking after the match, Chukwueze revealed the challenges he faced and expressed his belief that his confidence would grow further after scoring his first Serie A goal.

“I am really happy. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time,” the Nigerian winger told DAZN as quoted by Milannews.

“It hasn’t been easy. Whoever is playing in my position is doing great and scoring a lot. The coach can’t bench him. I continue to work hard, and it doesn’t matter if I play little.

“Today’s goal is very important for my confidence. I must continue to stay focused and centered on the future.”

The young forward’s impressive display in the match has certainly given AC Milan fans something to look forward to in the future.
