Segun Adekunle: Nigeria Defender Joins Barau FC from Nasarawa United

Nigeria centre-back Segun Adekunle has joined Barau FC from Nasarawa United, strengthening the NPFL side’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
The 25-year-old, a right-footed defender, makes the switch within the Nigerian top flight after a spell with Nasarawa United that began in January 2026. The move to Barau FC was completed on 21 July 2026, with the club securing a player whose market value is currently listed at €50,000.
Adekunle arrives at Barau FC having accumulated experience across several Nigerian clubs in recent seasons. Before his time at Nasarawa United, he turned out for Katsina United and Kwara United, following an earlier move from Bayelsa. His step up through these NPFL sides has seen him establish himself as a recognised presence in central defence.
A Nigerian Cup winner earlier in his career, Adekunle brings domestic honours and continuity in the league to his new side. His background across multiple teams in the top division offers Barau FC a defender familiar with the demands of Nigerian club football.
Born on 30 September 2000, Adekunle now enters what should be a key stage of his career, with his current market value matching the highest recorded to date. Barau FC will look to integrate him into their back line following the completion of his move from Nasarawa United on a permanent basis.
