Sevilla Sporting Director Victor Orta backs injured Akor Adams to recover

Sevilla Sporting Director Victor Orta has expressed confidence in Nigerian striker Akor Adams, despite the player’s ongoing battle with injuries since his arrival in January.

Adams joined the LaLiga side from French club Montpellier during the winter transfer window but has made only four league appearances due to recurring muscle injuries. The 24-year-old is now expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the club’s media, Orta voiced his support for the forward, saying: “What Akor has suffered is unfortunate, but we will analyze why these injuries happened. We have great faith in him.”

The injury setback also ruled Adams out of Nigeria’s recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, compounding a difficult start to his spell in Spain.

Sevilla currently sit 14th in LaLiga, with the club hoping Adams will return fully fit for the 2025/26 campaign.
