Sylvester Jasper set to join Standard Liege after undergoing medical

Tri-national forward Sylvester Jasper is nearing a move to Belgian Pro League club Standard Liege, with the player currently undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed transfer from Zeleznicar Pancevo.

Standard Liege and Zeleznicar Pancevo have reached an agreement in principle for Jasper, according to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri. The two clubs are now exchanging the documents required to complete the deal.

Jasper is expected to sign a three-year contract if he successfully passes his medical. The proposed agreement would also give Standard Liege the option to extend his stay for the 2029–30 season.

The move would take the London-born attacker to one of Belgium’s most established clubs as he continues a career that has already included spells in England, Scotland, Portugal, Serbia and Poland.

Jasper is eligible to represent England, Bulgaria and Nigeria. He qualifies for England by birth, while his Bulgarian and Nigerian eligibility comes through his mother and father respectively.

He began his international career with England’s Young Lions before becoming provisionally tied to Bulgaria. That occurred after he was named in the starting line-up for Bulgaria’s European U21 Championship qualifying match against the Netherlands in November 2021.

His imminent transfer also affected Zeleznicar Pancevo’s squad selection for their UEFA Conference League qualifying tie with Sporting Braga on Thursday. Jasper was not included in the squad for the match as negotiations over his move entered their final stages.

Zeleznicar coach Radomir Kokovic confirmed that the forward’s absence was linked to the impending transfer, with Jasper left out while the deal was being completed.

Jasper developed through the Fulham academy and has since played for a number of clubs across several European leagues. His previous teams include Colchester United, Hibernian, Bristol Rovers, Portimonense and Slask Wrocław.

A successful medical would allow the transfer to progress to the contract-signing stage, with the clubs already having agreed the main terms of the move. Standard Liege would then become the latest destination in Jasper’s career and his next opportunity to establish himself in the Belgian top flight.
