Atalanta 1-3 Napoli: Partenopei stun Bergamo to move to the top of the Serie A

Napoli climbed to the top of Serie A with a 2-1 win against Champions League hopefuls Atalanta.

Lorenzo Insigne and Matteo Politano scored in the first half to secure the three points for Luciano Spalletti’s side – despite a late scare when Marten de Roon equalized in the 58th minute of play.

Due to the suspensions of Victor Osimhen and Amir Rahmani, as well as injuries to Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Alex Meret, Adam Ounas, and Andrea Petagna, Dries Mertens led the way only days after becoming a father, with Alessandro Zanoli making his first start at right-back. Duvan Zapata returned to the bench following a nearly two-month absence, while Rafael Toloi and Merih Demiral were out with injuries.
