Tijjani Reijnders signing followed by Aramco Stadium update for Al Qadsiah fans
Al Qadsiah supporters received a second major boost on Wednesday, 19 August, after Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiya reported that the club’s new Aramco Stadium is nearing readiness. The update came on the same day that the club announced the signing of Netherlands midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from Manchester City.
Reijnders was widely regarded as the headline news for Al Qadsiah fans, but the progress of the stadium has provided another source of excitement for the club’s supporters. According to Al Riyadiya, the transfer and installation of the stadium’s playing surface have now been completed using modern technology designed for major sports venues around the world.
The Aramco Stadium will have a capacity of about 47,000 spectators. Its facilities are intended to accommodate all groups, including families, children, older people and disabled supporters. The venue will also feature upgraded hospitality areas and digital services designed to make access and movement around the stadium easier.
Supporters will be able to enter through 15 internal gates. These entrances will be supported by smart crowd-management systems, while other advanced solutions will be used to organise the movement of fans and reduce congestion before and after events.
The report also highlighted several technologies commonly used at European stadiums. The playing surface has been equipped with a system that extracts rainwater and speeds up drainage, helping to limit the effect of wet conditions on matches.
Aramco Stadium will also have a ventilation system connected to air-conditioning facilities with a capacity of 22,500 tonnes of cooling. Airflow was carefully calibrated during the design process through advanced simulation technology, with the aim of delivering the highest possible levels of comfort and efficiency.
The systems have been designed to continue operating effectively in demanding climatic conditions, an important consideration for a stadium in Saudi Arabia.
Information shared by Al Riyadiya also described the venue as an environment designed for supporters from all backgrounds, with hospitality facilities and digital services intended to improve the experience from arrival to departure. The report included a promotional message encouraging fans to buy tickets for Roshn Saudi League matches.
Al Qadsiah are seeking to create the best possible conditions for the team as they prepare for a historic campaign. The club will compete in the AFC Champions League Elite for the first time in its history, increasing the importance of having a modern home venue ready to host its matches.
The development of Aramco Stadium therefore represents more than an infrastructure project for Al Qadsiah. Alongside the arrival of Reijnders from Manchester City, its expected completion offers supporters further evidence of the club’s ambitions ahead of its first appearance in Asia’s premier club competition.
