Victor Osimhen stays in elite €75m bracket as Transfermarkt updates global values

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has kept his place among the world’s most valuable footballers with a €75m price tag, despite Nigeria’s failure to reach the 2026 FIFA World Cup and his absence from the tournament itself.

The Galatasaray forward remains in the top 55 most valuable players on the planet according to the latest global market value update released by Transfermarkt following the World Cup.

Osimhen is also the only player currently based in the Turkish Super Lig to feature in those rankings, underlining his status as the division’s standout asset.

Prolific form in Turkey

The 25-year-old has been a driving force behind Galatasaray’s recent domestic dominance since moving to Rams Park, putting together one of the most lethal scoring records in Europe.

Osimhen has found the net 59 times and contributed 16 assists in 74 appearances in all competitions for the Istanbul club, numbers that have helped to cement his reputation as one of Europe’s most productive centre-forwards.

His performances have been central to Galatasaray’s success in Turkey, with the Nigerian regularly leading the line and providing both goals and creativity across league and cup campaigns.

That consistency at club level is seen as the main reason his valuation has held steady at €75m in Transfermarkt’s post-World Cup review, even though he played no part in the finals.

World Cup heartbreak with Nigeria

While Osimhen’s club career continues on an upward trajectory, his recent experience with the national team was far less positive.

Nigeria missed out on a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after being knocked out by the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African playoffs, a tie in which Osimhen was unable to complete the first half.

The forward was forced off injured during the opening period of the playoff encounter, and could only watch on as DR Congo eventually secured qualification with a victory on penalties to reach the global showpiece.

That setback ended the Super Eagles’ hopes of appearing at the next World Cup and denied Osimhen the opportunity to showcase his talents on the biggest international stage.

Yamal tops rankings as leading names hold value

Transfermarkt’s latest update was compiled after the conclusion of the World Cup, taking into account performances during the tournament as well as throughout the club season.

At the summit of the revised list is Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal, whose valuation has risen by €20m to €220m, making him the most valuable player in world football according to the site.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham complete the top five in the new standings.

Alongside Osimhen, several high-profile youngsters also saw their market values remain unchanged in the latest assessment. Real Madrid and Turkey midfielder Arda Guler retained his valuation, as did Juventus attacker Kenan Yıldız.

For Osimhen, holding firm at €75m in such company is further acknowledgement of the level he has reached in Europe and the impact he continues to make at Galatasaray, even as the disappointment of missing the 2026 World Cup with Nigeria still lingers.
