Victor Osimhen’s penalty rescues point for Galatasaray against Hatayspor

Nigeria forward, Victor Osimhen helped Turkish Super Lig side, Galatasaray play out a 1-1 draw with Hatayspor in Matchday 20 league clash on Friday.

Cemali Sertel scored the first goal of the encounter in the 28th minute for the host at the Mersin Stadyumu.

A challenge on Dries Martens from an opposition in the 52nd minute resulted into a penalty after Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.

In the 56th minute, Osimhen runs up to the ball and waits for Visar Berkaj to commit before slotting the resulting penalty into the right of the goal.

Galatasaray thought they had scored the winning goal in the 79th minute when Baris Alper Yilmaz put the ball into the net but VAR ruled out the goal for an offside as both sides share spoils.

The 2023 Africa Player of the year, Osimhen increased his goal tally to 11 goals with four assists in the league.

Galatasaray maintained their top place on the log with 51 points from 19 games, nine points ahead of Fenerbahce which have played a game less.
