Vivian Ikechukwu opens goal account for Cruz Azul against Santa Laguna

Nigeria international Vivian Ikechukwu scored her first goal for Mexican Liga MX women Apertura side, Cruz Azul during a 4-1 win over Santa Laguna on Saturday.

Ximena Rios scored the first goal of the encounter with just two minutes into the game.

In the 24th minute, Danya Gutierrez doubled the lead for the host at the Instalaciones La Noria Cancha 1, Cuidad de Mexico.

Former Rivers Angels star Ikechukwu increased the lead to three in the 32nd minute of play ahead of the half time break.

Rios’ second goal of the match sealed the win despite Sandra Nabweteme’s consolation strike for Santa Laguna.

Ilechukwu saw 64 minutes of action and was substituted for Joselin Munoz after receiving a yellow card in the 57th minute.

She previously played for Gintra FC in Lithuania and Turkish side, Besiktas before joining the Mexican side.

Cruz Azul occupy the fifth position on the table with 10 points after six games.

They have a five points deficit behind leaders, Pachuca and Monterrey.
